Welcome to our Crack House!
My name is Jeff and the image to the left is the kitchen floor of our house that was completed in May, 2019. The large crack that you see in the tile extends through the kitchen, the pantry and across the foyer. It corresponds to a crack in the concrete slab that was present during the framing of the house.
Rather than repair the crack or employ readily available means to prevent the tile from cracking, the builder, XL Properties and Custom Development, LLC, laid the tile directly onto the cracked slab. Two years after moving into our new home, a 17-foot crack appeared in the floor tile and, since then, two additional multi-room cracks have appeared.
